China coal mine accident kills 13, 66 missing

Via Yahoo! Canada News

A coal mine accident early on Tuesday killed 13 people and 66 others were missing in central China's Henan Province, the Xinhua news agency reported, citing the state work safety watchdog.

China's mines are the deadliest in the world, due to lax safety standards and a rush to feed demand from a robust economy. More than 3,000 people died in coal mine accidents in 2008 alone.

The mining company should look into more safety aspect instead of focusing only on profit making. 13 killed 66 missing, behind of them, they are still many mouths awaiting to be fed.. sad story..

This is very sad indeed. These companies are earning very big in their mining operations yet they do not invest on the safety of their workers. Most of these accidents are avoidable.

This is a very sad news. Hopefully mining companies will be responsible for such accidents and improve there activities to avoid such incidents again. mining equipment

Mining accidents are really deadly. A lot of miners die because of this job, and this job should always be respected. Our ancestors have gone through this job, and until now, even with the advancement of technology, people still die because of this. People who are not miners should still be careful everytime they do a job like this. During a construction, my brother got a remote control loader for safety reasons.
